ABOUT

Leading Edge Certification (LEC) is a national certification program in educational technology and curriculum innovation. Created by an Alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies, LEC is the first national certification program of its kind, and is platform and vendor neutral. There are five (5) areas of certification offered by LEC:

  • Online and Blended Teacher
  • Administrator
  • Digital Educator (available in July, 2013)
  • Teacher Librarian (available in July, 2014)
  • Leading Educator (Professional Developer)


Certification For Forward-Thinking Educators

Leading Edge Certification (LEC) is a national certification program in education technology and curriculum innovation. Created for today’s forward-thinking educator, the five (5) LEC Certifications are: Online and Blended Teacher; Administrator; Digital Educator; Teacher Librarian; and Leading Educator (Professional Developer).

 

Who We Are

Leading Edge Certification is a national Alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies that provides educators a demonstrable way to show they understand how technology changes teaching and learning. How It Works

Leading Edge Certification is provided by Alliance members through online training or a blend of online and face-to-face trainings. The curriculum is developed by experts in the field. To find a training near you – or to find an online provider – visit our Training page. Currently Leading Edge Certification is available for the:

Additional certifications will be added each year, beginning with Administrator (2012), Classroom Teacher (2013), Teacher Librarian (2014) and Leading Educator (Professional Developer) (2015).

 

Our Story

Founded in 2010, Leading Edge Certification was created by a national Alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies from the worlds of K12 education, higher education and governmental agencies who all share in the commitment to advance student achievement. We saw a unique opportunity to fill a need that hadn’t yet been filled: to provide a national certification program specifically for 21st Century education professionals in educational technology and curriculum innovation.

 

Why Choose Leading Edge Certification

Leading Edge Certification is the first of its kind to provide a national certification program in educational technology that is both platform and vendor neutral. The content and curriculum of Leading Edge Certification will be freely downloadable via Creative Commons (CC). In the spirit of collaboration, Leading Edge Certification has developed this ning for like-minded educators to connect.

The Leadership 3.0 Symposium invites proposals to present at the 2013 Symposium which will be April 11-13 at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine, CA.
